Welcome to Belline Donkey Sanctuary

Belline Donkey Sanctuary is a non-profit organization that is currently home to 30 donkeys. We are dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and caring for Ireland s neglected and forgotten donkeys.

The Sanctuary was created because we believe donkeys deserve the best care and respect for the great contribution they have made to Irish History. Our aim is to provide them with a serene sanctuary to live out their days in peace and tranquillity.

Donkeys are wonderful affectionate animals, highly intelligent, with a gentle and lovable nature who crave affection and enjoy being around people. They have always formed an important part of Irish Heritage assisting in off road trade long before modern transport was ever heard of. Donkeys have been the silent “helping hooves” of Irish History.

It is sad that donkeys no longer have a use in modern Ireland. As a result, we see many neglected donkeys around Ireland and indeed throughout the world.

Dolly’s New Home 💕…

This week we delivered beautiful Dolly to her new home where she will be very happy by the looks of it!☺Unlike most donkeys Dolly has been on her own since a foal and seems to be much happier in her own company….
